Community Participation
My Coast Support helps bring people together through community participation. We facilitate connections in local communities across Australia. This may include support to be involved in social groups or community based activities.
Key Focuses
Building meaningful community participation
Being an active participant in the community is important for growth, learning and connection, but it's not a one size fits all approach. Our main focus is to match the interests and goals of the individual to the right community to make a meaningful difference, not just tick the boxes.
Benefits
Why community participation?
Community is such an integral part of who we are as human beings and everyone should have the access and support to be able to be a contributing member of their local community. We ensure that this is handled in a genuine way to bring about positive change.
Community participation is:
- Centered around the interests and needs of the individual and aligns with their goals and objectives
- Is done with family, friends or someone who is in the individuals circle of support
- Focussed on meaningful interaction and participation rather than simply finding what is available
